DANIELLE'S MOST ANTICIPATED GAME LIST...LIST

So this is the obligatory post about game releases I am most anticipating. This has really been a good year for gaming (Batman: Arkham Asylum, Assassin's Creed II, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Dragon Age: Origins, F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin, Halo 3: ODST, to mention a few) and next year looks to be too. So without further me rambling...

Danielle's most anticipated games of Dec 09-2010

In no particular order...

Bioshock 2
The first Bioshock is one of my all time favourite games. I was hooked on it and it's one of those games that had me completely absorbed in it's atmosphere- playing through this game for the first time is just very special, there's no other way of putting it. So naturally, I'm desperately awaiting to get my hands on number 2. Plus, getting to play as a Big Daddy? BADASS.

Army of Two: The 40th Day
Another game which I really enjoyed the first installment of. Salem and Rios are just great together. I loved all their trash talking and quips, along with certain other characters. This is what stood out most to me in this game; the characters. And that is always a really important thing to me, I have to be interested in the characters when I'm playing a game. Had a great story too. 40th Day is going to be set in Shanghai, which is struck by a huge disaster...whilst Salem and Rios are there...what are they going to do?? How are they going to do it?? I think both of these questions can be answered with guns, rockets, team work, and guns...Which is awesome. So bring it on.

Final Fantasy XIII

I think practically everyyyyyone and his dog is awaiting this game, so not much to say here. Hugely popular RPG franchise, new installment, looks freaking beautiful. As for the lead characters name though (Lightning)I know Square Enix are trying to carry on a naming tradition from the previous games, but this just sounds...meh. I know it's hardly original, but wouldn't something like Storm have sounded better? Rain? Lightning Rain Cloud?

Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep
I'm a complete sucker for the Kingdom Heart series. Fell in love with it straight away. Intriguing and absorbing characters, enchanting worlds, moving music, emotional storyline...you see, just thinking about it makes me go all gooey. This game in the series is going to be a prequel to the first Kingdom Heart's game (set 10 years before) and is suppose to elaborate on many unexplained plot elements from the series. It's a PSP game, so I'm not expecting it to be mind-blowing, but it's Kingdom Heart's, so it's all good.

Darksiders
Now this just sounds badass. You play as one of the Four Horseman, WAR (yes, he's called WAR. MANLY.) The story goes that the Apocalypse has taken place- earlier than it was suppose too- and the world is destroyed. So who's job is it to go and find out who was up to a bit of no good that brought about the end of the world? WAR, of course. Stuck in between a battle of angels and demons, WAR has to find the other Horseman and some answers. And maybe by the looks of it, a bigger sword.

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker

Okay, whenever I try and talk about anything MGS, I kind of have a meltdown, because there is just so much to say about this series, and so much to LOVE, and words just cannot describe...............oh dear, let me start again.
The MGS series is my favourite gaming series ever. Of all-time ever. MGS- AMAZING! MGS2-AWESOME! MGS3-My favourite game of all time, tied with FFVII. And MGS4, well. Unless you've played it, nothing I write can possibly describe it, especially if you have followed the series from the start. It's a very special gaming experience.
Peace Walker is going to be a PSP game, and if MGS: Portable Ops was anything to go by, (it was awesome, btw) then we are in for a treat. It takes place after MGS3 and Portable Ops, you play as Big Boss, and it will develop the back story for Outer Heaven. If that doesn't get you excited, then well!! What kind of MGS fan are you?!

Doom 4
I've only played Doom 3, but wow, that was an awesome game. Even scared the crap out of me a few times. Doom 3 is a great, and very addictive, FPS with an interesting and creepy storyline, that will have you playing it for hours at a time. Good times.
For sure, I want more from the Doom series, so Doom 4 is VERY WELCOME. I hope it takes up as many hours of my life as 3 did.
Not much is known about Doom 4 yet, accept that it is not a sequel to 3 and neither is it a reboot. But to be honest, that really doesn't change how excited I am about this. As long as it's not a crossover with Disney and the silent Marine dude doesn't start talking in a gravelly voice, I'm game.

Fallout: New Vegas

Another game that we don't know too much about right now, except that it is not a sequel to Fallout 3 and that it will be the "same sort of role-playing game experience seen in Fallout 3." I still haven't completed Fallout 3, but that doesn't mean I don't know how awesome it is. Plenty of world to explore, numerous side quests, an intriguing stroyline, quirky characters, and boom, you've hooked me. So the thought that we have another Fallout heading our way is certainly welcome news to me.

Other mentions*:
Metal Gear Solid: Rising
Halo: Reach
Mortal Kombat 9
The Saboteur
Command & Conquer 4: Tiberian Twilight
White Knight Chronicles
Twisted Metal
Heavy Rain
Rogue Warrior

*other stuff that I'm looking forward to but can't be bothered to write about

  1. Bioshock 2! I really should be excited about so many of those but I never really got into FF, I'm behind on KH, never played Call of Duty, never played MGS on PSP... Man what have I become?! Also what's MGS: Rising?

  2. Ahh, Chris!! You're missing out! MGS: Portable Ops is definitely one of the best games on the psp. And KH is an amazing series, though I don't think everyone is able to get into it. But hell yeah, bring on Bioshock 2, I need a new dose of Bioshocky goodness.

MGS: Rising is a new MGS game meant to be coming out next year on ps3/360, where you play as Raiden (he looks like he does in MGS4), but apart from that, they haven't really released any other info on it. I can't wait for it though, I'm a sucker for MGS.
