Assassi-errr, Prototype...

Am I the only one who keeps catching myself calling Prototype 'Assassin's Creed'?

There are similarities between the two, right? Lot's of similarities, at least I think. Both hooded protagonists- and Alex and Altaïr do look alike (err, at least of what you can see of their faces.) Both let you run them around big cities, climbing anything in sight, scaling buildings and the like, and then there's the carrying out missions side of things. Altaïr assassinates dudes, and Alex eats and absorbs dudes (but don't judge them just on what I wrote, they are actually both charming chaps.) In Assassin's Creed, you can have lots of frustrating fun trying to collect all the flags, and in Prototype you can collect all the landmarks (which I do actually have fun doing- 150/200 so far, hur hur.)
That being said, I haven't actually completed either game yet. I'm right in the middle (well, more towards the end) of Prototype at the moment, and got so far in Assassin's Creed, but haven't been able to finish it yet due to my lack of a PS3, boooo. This is particularly annoying for me, because I'm quite desperate to play Assassin's Creed 2 (it looks beauuuutiful.)
I'm really enjoying Prototype. The game play is addictive, and whilst I'm not completely absorbed in the storyline, it's good enough. A lot of my time has been spent on trying to obtain gold in all the events (sometimes as fun as having someone repeatedly step on the back of your shoes) and collecting landmarks and hints. I do like games with lots of side stuff to do- gives you a chance to really explore the environment. And sometimes put off finishing the game if it's too good for you to want to reach the end *cough*Mgs3&FFVII*cough*
Random nugget of helpfulness: You can collect Landmark points whilst in a helicopter. Now, depending on whether you aren't a bit of a dope like myself, that may indeed have been obvious to you and therefore not a helpful nugget, but I only found that out today after a frustrating good 15 minutes of trying to reach this one damn landmark that was hovering under a bridge on the edge of the map. Sure, I could glide towards it, but once you got so close to it, you would just drop (your glide would just abruptly cut off, as if that particular area was a no go area, too far out of reach of the map as it were.) It was at this point that I turned to Google (and I'm grateful that I'm not the only person that seemed to be a bit stuck with this- the fourth option in the Google autosearch box when you type in 'Prototype Landmark' is 'prototype landmark under the bridge')
^I was not alone

One thing that really drives me crackers about this game is the consume targets- I'm talking specifically about the ones you encounter randomly whilst roaming the map, not any missions consumes. They always get killed just as I'm about to reach them! They either get ran over, shot, flung in the air, or flung in the air, shot then ran over (okay, I'm exaggerating that a little bit.) Then begins the intensely exciting game of waiting for them to respawn. And sometimes they don't even respawn in the same area *sigh*. It's a hard life.

I should probably stop writing about Prototype now and actually get playing it because I have a deadline to finish it. Time for some productive work. And oh yeah, I totally recommend playing Prototype if you can.
